RepAir Carbon Awarded 3 million NIS Grant from Israel Innovation Authority to Support Ongoing Development of Direct Air Capture Technology for Sustainable Carbon Removal

Receipt of the grant reflects RepAir’s important role within the Israeli tech ecosystem, as a leading player advancing climate solutions to offset carbon emissions globally

Yokne’am, December 19, 2023 – RepAir, the pioneering Direct Air Capture (DAC) solution capturing more CO2 with less, today announced it has been awarded a 3 million NIS grant from the Israel Innovation Authority (IIA), the independent public agency responsible for Israeli innovation policy. Motivated by an unwavering commitment to mitigating carbon emissions, RepAir also strives to contribute to the local creation of advanced climate solutions in Israel. The grant will support the ongoing advancement of RepAir’s DAC technology at scale, which is imperative to meeting the ambitious targets outlined by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 13), where emissions reduction takes centerstage in global efforts to combat the escalating climate crisis.

To reach the goal of net zero emissions by 2050, the global community must increasingly embrace macro-scale carbon negative solutions to offset both the nearly 40 gigatons of CO2 that are released into the atmosphere annually and historical emissions with carbon storage and credits. RepAir offers an affordable and scalable solution to combating rising emissions and mitigating climate change. Its low energy consumption and straightforward, modular design render the solution easy to produce and integrate at partner sites, while maintaining low operating and capital expenditures. With this combination of technology and design, RepAir’s solution is uniquely capable of accelerating sustainable, cost-effective DAC implementation at scale.   

The announcement comes shortly after RepAir unveiled its field prototype in November 2023, demonstrating the technical performance of its carbon capture solution in an operational environment for the first time. With this launch, RepAir’s electrochemical carbon dioxide removal (CDR) solution achieved Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6, a significant step forward on the path to market viability and a major milestone on the path to enabling carbon capture below $100/ton.

The Israel Innovation Authority is an independent, publicly funded agency created to award funding to entrepreneurs advancing the Israeli innovation ecosystem, with an emphasis on the high-tech sector, including the manufacturing industry. This is the third R&D grant the Israel Innovation Authority has awarded to RepAir, totaling 5M NIS to date, demonstrating their recognition of the company’s innovation and far-reaching potential.
